About
LaraTailored is a custom apparel and alterations business that aims to help people buy less and keep clothing longer by encouraging upcycling, thrifting, and altering clothing instead of throwing clothes away and buying new.
My business values quality and community. Each item is made or altered with care, using tried and true sewing techniques that ensures the garment structure will last, and I aim to make every client feel welcomed like a good friend and leave feeling confident with their new look.
Formerly located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia PA, I am now working in Central Pennsylvania while I assist with wardrobe for Hershey Park in the Dark. While in the Harrisburg area, I work as an unofficial alterations apprentice under Andrea Hoover of A Stitch ‘N Time. If you’re in the Central Pennsylvania area, and need alterations please reach out to Andrea, and I will see you there!
I also teach adult and children's sewing lessons. While in Philadelphia I taught at Butchers's Sew Shop in South Philadelphia. They run after school sewing every weekday, as well as a Saturday morning kids class. Adult classes of up to 10 people run every evening and weekend.
Currently, I offer 1-on-1 or group lessons. Students learn all about how to use a sewing machine (bring your own if it’s been sitting and collecting dust), and complete a project of their choosing.
Whatever your sewing needs, I can help you or at least send you in the right direction. Can’t wait to hear from you!
Thank you for stopping by my site to learn a little more about me and my services.
I am temporarily closed through the first week of November 2024 while I work on the Epic Entertainment wardrobe team for Hershey Park’s Dark Nights’ Halloween season.
See you for the holiday season!
